Acting

As an actor, Chandra began to land roles in the Washington, D.C. area as early as the 1979 theater production of the late Joseph Walker's The Lion is a Soul Brother.  Around the same time, she was cast in Haile Gerima's film production, Ashes to Embers. Upon relocating to her hometown of Austin, Texas in 1999, she registered with a talent agent and immediately began to receive bookings for print work. Eventually, she landed numerous roles in commercials, industrial videos, voice-overs, as well as a supporting role in the Paramount Pictures production, Stop Loss and HBO's The Leftovers. She has recently landed several feature roles in films yet to be released: Lucy (2018), Duncan (2018) and As Is (2019).

Besides directing and performing in her own theater productions (SistaSpeak, Healing Caravan), Chandra has appeared in several theater productions in Austin, including Blue Orpheus, A Night With Nikki, 365 Days/365 Plays, and most recently in the 2011 and 2012 productions of for colored girls who have considered suicide when the rainbow is enuf, receiving critical acclaim for her portrayal of "Lady in Blue."  Directed by Zell Miller III, "for colored girls" was recently nominated for "Best Ensemble," "Best Director," and was awarded "Best Movement" by the 2011 - 2012 Austin Circle of Theater's Critics' Table Awards
